From January no more visa for Kenya, but ETA

What is the new electronic authorisation required to enter

29-12-2023 di redazione

The site for electronic travel authorisation to enter Kenya, ETA Kenya, which will replace the online entry visa (evisa) from 1 January 2024, is now online, although not yet operational.
In the meantime, we recommend to those who want to travel to Kenya, to do the 'old' visa online, which in any case will be valid in the first months of 2024.

The decision to switch from the visa requirement and the payment of USD 51 for entry valid for three months (and renewable for another three) into Kenya as tourists to 'visa free', with only the ETA requirement (which will cost around EUR 30) had been announced on 12 December last year directly by Kenyan President William Ruto.
When ETA becomes operational, it will be necessary to access www.etakenya.go.ke.
Here is what ETA Kenya says about this newly introduced system.

Kenya's ETA is a semi-automatic system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to Kenya. Authorisation through ETA does not determine a traveller's eligibility to enter Kenya. Immigration officials will determine eligibility when travellers arrive. The ETA application collects biographical information and answers eligibility questions and can be submitted at any time prior to travel, although it is recommended that travellers apply for it as soon as accommodation and transport tickets are booked.

Who has to obtain the ETA?

The ETA is mandatory for all foreign visitors, with the exception of citizens of EAC member states who wish to travel to Kenya.

Every individual is required to apply for an ETA before commencing travel. It is mandatory to use the official government website to submit the application. Applications submitted through third party websites will be automatically rejected. For those under the age of 18, the legal guardian, parent or accompanying adult is responsible for completing the application.

How do I apply for an ETA?

If you plan to travel to Kenya several times in the next few years, please download the mobile application, which will allow you to store your details on your phone for future use.

The Government of Kenya has provided this website as a secure platform for visitors to submit information and apply for an ETA. ETA applications can be completed through this official website or through the official 'Kenya Travel Authorisation' mobile applications and must be made for each person intending to travel to Kenya.

THE ETA IS ONLY VALID FOR ONE ENTRY INTO KENYA, ON SUBSEQUENT TRAVEL YOU WILL NEED TO REAPPLY FOR IT
